April 3rd Salamandering

Dimi and I visited a location in Northern New Jersey that is known to have a breeding population of genetically pure Blue-spotted Salamanders. We only spent about 45 minutes at the site, but were able to find 4 Blue-spotteds and 2 other Ambystoma of unknown identity. Perhaps the latter 2 are unspotted Blue-spotteds, perhaps they are Jefferson, perhaps they are hybrids. Regardless, it was an enjoyable time. We were also happy to see Rusty Blackbirds.
